Bangladesh:Assassination attempt to Khaledia Zia foiled

Everyone in Bangladesh is worried about recent political crisis and praying to end this deadlock. However, A serious news may gone unnoticed by many.  A potential plot to kill  Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chair and opposition leader Khaleda Zia has  been ignored by national Media to highlights.


Muktijoddha Projonmo League (MPL), a ruling party affiliated organisation who are alleged to be organising petrol bombing into the cars, buses to blame opposition along with ruling party student organisation Bangladesh Chattra League . This group (MPL) organised a seizure programme of  Khaleda Zia's Gulshan-2 around 12noon.


From that seizure cell A young man, armed with a pistol, appeared in front of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office  shouting out that Khaleda would be killed unless the blockade and hartal were withdrawn. The young man identified himself as Mufidul Islam, an activist of Muktijoddha Projonmo League.


Witnesses said, Mufidul drew a pistol from his waist and started to shout at the top of his voice. Mufidul said: ‘Where is Khaleda Zia. Why hasn’t she withdrawn hartal and blockade? I will shoot her.’ It panicked the media people present there. Then the members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police who were also present there, whisked him away.


What happened afterwards is unknown but a potential assassination of Opposition leader could have turn the current situation worse and escalate further turmoil.
